Thought Leadership + Narrative strategy

Accenture — Sustainability Thought Leadership & CIO Magazine Feature

The Challenge

Accenture released a flagship sustainability report, but the public conversation quickly narrowed to carbon metrics alone. The insights within the report were far broader, spanning workforce transformation, technology modernization, responsible innovation, and operational resilience. The challenge was to expand the narrative and connect sustainability to business priorities that resonated with senior leaders across functions.

The Strategy

Working closely with subject-matter experts across HR, IT, and enterprise leadership, the sustainability narrative was reframed as a business and technology imperative rather than a standalone initiative. This approach uncovered new angles that showed how sustainability was already shaping decision-making across the organization.

One key opportunity emerged within the CIO audience. By positioning sustainability as central to technology strategy, a compelling executive narrative took shape. This became the foundation for the CIO Magazine byline, “How CIOs Can Unite Sustainability and Technology,” which was ghostwritten and placed to reach C-suite decision-makers.

The Impact

The work broadened how sustainability was understood across executive audiences, demonstrating its role in driving innovation, influencing digital transformation, and strengthening long-term business performance. The result was increased credibility for Accenture’s leadership and a more expansive narrative framework for future sustainability storytelling.
